Stone mason in Saint-André-les-Alpes (04170)
Saint-André is half an hour away, where the Verdon meets the Issole. This is where the stone changes: Annot sandstone stops before it, and limestone takes over. You cannot see it from the road, but it changes everything on a wall.

The local fabric
The old fabric of Saint-André is rendered limestone, not exposed stone — a difference that matters when you are talking about a façade. Inventory records give limestone rubble on the Bastide du Plan farm as on the 1892 station, sandstone appearing only as filler on a few Haut-Village houses.
The village is a tight weave of terraced houses, narrow and tall, up to five storeys with a raised loft. The original roof is canal tile on long pitches, and it is the element that has drifted furthest: asbestos cement was laid mid-century on several houses in the old centre. The commune sits within the Verdon regional park.
What we do there
- Lime renders and façade repair on limestone masonry.
- Stripping added roof coverings and returning to a coherent roof.
- Restoration of terraced village houses.
- Retaining walls, structural masonry and earthworks.
