Stone mason in Puget-Théniers (06260)
Puget-Théniers lies downstream, in the Alpes-Maritimes, half an hour down the Var valley. It is a dense medieval valley-floor town, with stepped streets and vaulted passages — not an isolated hilltop village.

The local fabric
Tall narrow houses of three to four storeys, packed under the castle rock, with corbelled upper floors, added loggias and timber framing above. The decoration is carried by dressed stone — lintels and jambs, some carved with masters' marks on rue Papon — and by timber. Inventory records on the commune give bedded limestone rubble, dressed limestone quoins and surrounds, and a low-pitched canal tile roof.
The thirteenth-century church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is a listed monument: the old centre sits within its surrounds, subject to the state architect's opinion. One more thing not to overlook: the commune is in a moderate seismic zone, and the 1887 earthquake damaged the church. Strengthening old stone masonry here is a real subject, not a theoretical one.
What we do there
- Restoration of medieval town houses with narrow access.
- Façade repair and repointing within monument surrounds.
- Strengthening and underpinning of old masonry.
- Structural masonry and traditional stonework.
